ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Lewis Gibbons. I am the National Lead Scout at Southampton FC's Category One academy - Norwich, London, along the M4, past Reading, Bristol and Cardiff to Swansea, and as south to the sea as we can get - I manage the team for this whole area in the National Recruitment Department.

In 2013, at 18 years old, I started my coaching journey at an inner-city football club where I played in my teens. By my early 20's I was on the committee, managing the entire football side of the club; philosophy, recruitment, coach development, and so on - as well as managing an individual age group. My first ever team yielded great young people, and excitingly 4 players who, now in 2025, are professional footballers - one at Chelsea FC. My next team yielded more intelligent, respectful, ambitious young people, most of whom are now in an academy setting.
In my mid-20's, I became the South West scout for Birmingham City, later joining Southampton FC covering the same area. I was then promoted to the position of National Lead Scout to manage the entire South. Now in my 30's, I have amassed an excellent network across the country of key personnel in football academies, built great experience as a coach and scout, learning something new every day.

In a world where we are spoilt for choice, where there are so many paths to take - especially for parents looking for the best thing for their child - it's difficult to find authentic people with the right credentials to help you. Especially in football. One of the main issues I have been facing in recent years is trying to home players who want to go to a Sunday league side where they can actually be coached in a way that compliments their other ambitions - whether they are in a pre-academy or private centre knocking on the door of trials - or new to football and want to really progress but all of the other options appear to be for experienced players only.
So, Royale West FC has been born. If you feel your child is in a position to move forward with football, or you just want to get some advice, get in touch for a chat. My door is always open.

We offer multiple services to help your child fulfil their potential. We are predominantly a grassroots football club with our teams playing in the Sunday leagues in Bristol, however we are expanding our services to also include an elite coaching & development program, goalkeeping school, scouting assessments and half-term training camps. Our coaches also offer private 1-to-1 or group sessions.
